Luxury Car : GM Design Car Able Walk Alone

General Motors announced the concept of a future two-wheeled vehicles that can run automatically, without the need to drive the driver manually.

The car, named EN-V (short for Networked-Electric Vehicle), it is designed to anticipate future conditions, as a solution to environmental problems, road density and traffic accidents.

This projection is based on GM in 2030, where about 60 percent of the 8 billion people now living in urban areas, so that weighed heavily on public transport infrastructure.

"EN-V is a combination of electrification and connectivity, providing solutions for urban mobility, because it offers a driving experience the free gasoline and emissions-free density and traffic accidents, as well as providing fun and style," said Kevin Wale, president of GM China, such as quoted from Computerworld.

Concept car which was done by GM in cooperation with Shanghai Industry Corporation Group (SAIC) was built on the platform prototype form developed by the Segway, a company that developed the two-wheeled electric vehicles are quite popular in the United States

EN-V is a vehicle that can be steered manually or automatically operated (drive-by-wire). Vehicle tiny in size about one-third that of traditional vehicles equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS), inter-vehicle communication technology, as well as the proximity sensor technology.

This vehicle can also reduce the traffic density, with the ability automatically to choose the fastest route destination based on the information highway density of real-time.

With the sensor and camera system that has, EN-V is claimed to map out the situation around and able to react quickly to overcome the obstacles or changes in current conditions.

For example, if there is a pedestrian who suddenly crossed in front of the vehicle, EN-V immediately reduce speed to a safer conditions, even able to stop earlier than the current vehicle. This makes passenger vehicles can be safer from accidents.

This concept car is also equipped with a wireless communication system so that passengers can communicate with their friends via social networks, during the trip.

Vehicles weighing about 500 kg is powered by an electric motor that can carry two passengers and light baggage. Just as cell phones, power supplied by lithium-ion battery, so that absolutely no emissions.

To charge the battery, the car owner simply connect the EN-V into a standard electrical outlet like the one in every home. Every time the battery is fully charged, the car was able to cover the distance by 40 kilometers.

Three models of cars EN-V, ie, EN-V Pride, EN-V Magic, and EN-V Laugh, will be exhibited at the Shanghai World Expo 2010, between May 1 to October 31 2010.

Prior to this, GM has developed a vehicle that can drive itself automatically (autonomous vehicle), along with students at Carnegie Mellon University Pittsburgh United States that produces the Chevrolet Tahoe vehicle, aka 'The Boss' in 2007.
